Also known as fashion month’s cool little sister, Copenhagen Fashion Week offers the first glimpse of spring/summer 2025 trends before New York, London, Milan, and Paris take over your Instagram feed. After all, Scandinavian style always tends to be a step ahead of the curve, so it’s a good indicator of what’s coming into your closet, no matter the season. And with brands like Rotate, OpéraSPORT, and A. Roege Hove on board, it was sure to be a (very) fashionable era.
If the unusually pleasant weather in the Danish capital is any hint, next spring will be all about the joy of getting dressed, the joy of the outdoors, the joy of expression and the joy of living life. “We design dresses that make you walk fast,” Marimekko creative director Rebecca Bay tells ELLE. “You can take ownership and decide how you want to wear it, but you can also move on with your life.”
Designer Joan Marasin added: “The forward-thinking trend is an effortlessly versatile wardrobe that blends casual, dressy, cool and layered styles: tailored jackets and swimsuits and heels, cocktail dresses and chunky denim, [and] Maxi-length jumpers and jackets and miniskirts and sweatshirts. ” The runway show offered just that, from elegant sheer fabrics to head-to-toe moto leather and pops of acid green.
What is another key element that sets Copenhagen Fashion Week apart from its fashionable peers? Commitment to sustainability. To participate, designers must meet minimum standards for environmentally friendly practices, including using at least 60% certified, recommended, or deadstock materials. This is the fourth season this requirement has been in place, and other venues, including Berlin Fashion Week, plan to follow suit.
We’ve rounded up the top trends from the show below, so you don’t have to wait until you buy the next big thing. See and shop everything below.

Thanks to Billie Eilish and the cool kids of the Lower East Side, long, baggy shorts are back in style. However, you don’t have to be a tomboy to ride the skater-friendly trend. Knee-length jordans and breathable khakis take a slightly more neutral stance on the trend. Like any statement item, it’s all about how you style it. Pair it with sneakers or moto boots for a more casual look, or pair it with strappy heels or clogs for a classy look.

Knits and sweaters may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of summer, but think of balmy evenings at the beach. Summertime knits are in a category entirely of their own, as they need to be breathable, light, yet comfortable. Open-knit patterns and delicate threads come into play here, as seen on the runways of Rolf Eklos, Joan Marcin, and Herskind. The key to finding the perfect style is deciding what to wear underneath.

Go over there, tennis core. The latest sports-inspired trends have us wearing stripes and collars, and rugby is taking over our wardrobes. Office wear may still be popular, but so is the color gray. From charcoal to cool slate, silk, tweed and pinstripe, this is the season’s understated palette. It also doesn’t have to be all business. “I was drawn to the contrasting fashion eras of the ’80s and ’90s,” says Remain designer Martin Asbjörn. “I was inspired by their shared affinity for ‘power dressing.’ We wanted these women to wear this item throughout their daily lives, adding strength and elegance to everything they do. We want you to feel it, from the office to the art gallery to the wine bar.”

Be careful of tan lines. Next spring, your décolletage will be fully visible, so apply creams and serums accordingly. The Garment and Love Child 1979 had a flowing, almost bohemian vibe. “We were interested in different perspectives on what modern workwear is,” Lovechild 1979 designer Anne Dors Larsen tells ELLE. “The concept of moving between different settings or environments, and how our clothing changes accordingly, or sometimes it doesn’t change at all.” Wearing strapless dresses, tube tops, etc. Maintain the elegance of free thinking anytime, anywhere.
