ESSENCE held its sixth annual Fashion House on Friday (September 6), highlighting Black pioneers, creatives, designers and fashion enthusiasts. This year’s theme, “Luxury UnDefined,” celebrated Black fashion and community and invited guests to participate in key panel discussions, fashion showcases, and first-hand inspiration.
The event, hosted by model and actress Eva Marcille, included a discussion on the importance of “cultural integrity and originality” with celebrity stylist and fashion designer Misa Hilton, and a run with Teofilio’s Edwin Thompson. It included a discussion with Chanteur’s Soul and Dynasty Ogun. “Discovering and refining your personal style” and a conversation with fashion designer Dapper Dan and rapper FERG about balancing authenticity with “the demands of an ever-changing commercial environment.”
Additionally, the fashion event also highlighted SOKO MRKT, which included a showcase of up-and-coming fashion collections by designers Kafir, Tejaan Barnett, Freddie Estelle, and SOKO. Guests also had the opportunity to shop unique collections and speak with designers.
Essence Fashion House was attended by many stars including creative director June Ambrose, Dreka Gates, Bandit the Rapper, singer J. Ray Soul, Summer House, and more. Alex Tyree and Nick Arrington of Marth’s Vineyard, model Wendell Lissimore, influencers Skylar Marshai, Temitope Ibisanmi, and more.
