The Decathlon Forclaz jacket offers a wide range of insulation and performance for winter trekking. The Forclaz name refers to the Decathlon line of products designed with hiking and backpacking in mind. (It is an extended French word meaning a narrow mountain road.)
The numbers following the Beyond the Forclaz name, such as MT500 and MT900, suggest the level of insulation and activity the jacket is designed to perform optimally.
Below you’ll find three of several Decathlon Forclaz jackets made for different temperatures and activity levels. To some extent, that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as each jacket often comes with or without a hood, and is also marketed as a less insulated vest.
Special offer: For a limited time, purchase a down jacket and receive a free Decathlon 20L NH100 backpack. This offer runs until October 31st or while supplies last.

Forclaz MT100 Hooded Down Puffer Jacket — Men & Women: $99
Designed for backpacking, this lightweight down jacket can be worn as a third layer (over a long-sleeved shirt and a light fleece) to keep you active and comfortable in temperatures up to 23 degrees.
Forclaz MT100 boasts 800 fill power insulation using Responsible Down Standard certified down. It is packable and weighs just over 10 ounces (large size). The exterior fabric is polyamide, and the filling is 90% down and 10% feather. Although the jacket is water-resistant, it’s a good idea to have a hard shell to wear over it for extended periods of rain or snow.
The jacket is also great for everyday winter wear, as it stays comfortable up to 41 degrees while sitting still.

Forclaz MT500 Down Puffer Jacket — Men & Women: $149
For activities when temperatures drop below freezing, the MT500 uses 660 cubic inches of fill power RDS down behind a 100% polyamide outer fabric. Wear it as a third layer and test the comfort range from 14 degrees to 32 degrees.
Despite the 500 number, this jacket uses a 660 fill consisting of 90% gray duck down and 10% gray duck feather. The insulation is behind a polyamide lining and polyester shell fabric.
The jacket has two hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket to safely store your smartphone or wallet. A storage bag is included to store and pack the jacket, which weighs approximately 15.5 ounces (large size).

Forclaz MT900 Hooded Down Puffer Jacket — Men & Women: $199
For the coldest conditions, rely on Decathlon’s warmest jacket.
The MT900 has plenty of RDS down (660 fill power) to keep you comfortable during activities down to 0 degrees. For camping and other static scenarios, it can stay comfortably warm down to 23 degrees. Zippered vents allow heat to escape from underarm hot spots while hiking.
Reinforced water-repellent fabric on the waterproof hood and shoulder panels keeps the most exposed areas dry and reinforces high-wear areas.
The MT900 weighs about 1.5 pounds (Large size), but it fits compactly in an inside pocket when stowed away in a backpack.
