The Danish fashion scene has quickly become one of the most interesting places in the world: the street style is innovative, the designers are on the rise (like Ganni), it’s a mecca for puff sleeves, athleisure, coquettes, sneakers, loungewear and graphic prints, and Copenhagen Fashion Week is now the go-to event for fashion insiders.
This year’s Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 will take place from 5th to 9th August 2024. As Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 fast approaches, we wanted to highlight some of the key designers and ateliers you should know about that will be leading this year’s schedule: (You can find the full schedule of events on the Copenhagen Fashion Week website.)
1. Opera Sports
OpéraSport will kick off Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 with a show on Monday, August 5. Founded in 2019 by creative consultant and stylist Stephanie Gundelach and design and production expert Awa Malina Stelter, the brand fuses Parisian elegance with a Copenhagen sporty edge – a fusion that results in timeless pieces that are sophisticated yet sporty, luxurious yet affordable, and stylish yet sustainable.
The brand’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of recycled and organic fabrics and on-demand production methods. OpéraSPORT aims to create responsible, high-quality clothing without sacrificing design or aesthetics.
2. Niklas Skovgaard
Founded in Copenhagen in 2020, Niklas Skovgaard’s luxury womenswear label is known for its thoughtful approach and captivating use of classic shapes and unexpected material combinations. Skovgaard masters weaving to create signature pieces such as jackets and capelets, and creates his own unique textiles by hand. Inspired by baroque portraiture, Madonna music videos, and personal memories, his designs fuse contrasting fabrics into visually arresting silhouettes. Presenting two collections each year, the brand is constantly evolving, balancing romanticism and realism through innovative textiles and recognisable designs.
3. Deadwood
Deadwood Studios was founded in 2012 by two friends, Carl Olsson and Felix von Bader, who met while working in a denim shop in Stockholm. What started as a vintage shop between the two quickly became a full-fledged design studio dedicated to sustainable and ethical fashion. With a vision to recycle or upcycle 80% of materials, the remaining 20% of garments are chosen with clear environmental or ethical benefits, such as plant-based leather alternatives. Every garment produced by Deadwood Studios tells its own story and reflects a commitment to sustainability and quality design.
4. Rotate
Originally launched as an influencer-driven capsule collection by 150-year-old Danish retailer Birger Christensen and fashion influencers Janette Madsen and Thora Valdimarsdottir, Rotate (founded in 2018) has since grown into a brand in its own right, now sold in 40 countries and known for its sparkly mini dresses and bold, glamorous party designs.
5. A. Rosi Hoeve
Founded in 2019 by Amalie Røge Hove, A. Roege Hove is best known for its innovative knitwear designs. The Copenhagen-based brand specializes in creating unique, sculptural pieces that blend traditional knitting techniques with a contemporary aesthetic, with collections often featuring bold textures, asymmetrical lines, and minimalist color palettes. The label’s commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability has made it a standout in contemporary knitwear, garnering attention within the fashion industry.
