Spring/Summer 2025 New York Fashion Week kicks off this month as one of fashion’s biggest months, officially running from September 6th to September 11th. The Council of Fashion Designers of America’s calendar lists 87 runway events and presentations, and countless more. Programs outside the calendar. The trends seen at these events will help set the tone for fashion across retailers and influencer accounts for the rest of fall and into next year.

Nevertheless, the nonprofit Partnership for New York City recently released a report citing NYFW’s “diminishing status” on the global fashion stage. As the luxury goods industry struggles with declining consumer interest, especially in the US, mainstream and independent brands are releasing increasingly wearable collections despite high-fashion price points.

At the same time, runways are reaching a wider range of consumers through social media, e-commerce, and live streaming platforms. For example, fashion designer Willy Chavarria offered online consumers the ability to purchase selections from his runway collection the day after the show. Meanwhile, Google Shopping partnered with ready-to-wear brand Simkhai to introduce enhanced AI-enabled generation tools, including virtual dress try-on and pre-ordering. Streaming platform B Live has helped livestream runway shows for brands like Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, and Coach.

This season, brands seemed ready to embrace the casual ease that American fashion embodies. Some labels, such as Alaïa and Off-White, skipped the usual Paris show and presented their collections in New York.

Here are some of the hottest trends from the New York collection.
