LIMESTONE, Maine – Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast JR” will be performed at Limestone Community School from Friday, August 9 through Saturday, August 10. Performances will be at 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Saturday. Designed for middle school students, the 60-minute musical is based on the 1994 Broadway production and Disney’s 1991 animated feature film. The cast of Broadway Kids in the County includes 17 students, led by Liliana Ainsworth.
“Beauty and the Beast is a Disney classic, skillfully weaving together upbeat numbers and heartfelt ballads. I am honored to be able to tell a story that has captivated audiences for decades with such talented and caring children. It has been a privilege for me to watch these young actors and actresses hone their craft over the years; every time I see them, they gain a new level of confidence in their abilities. My goal as director is to help the actors realize their full potential and create a show they will look back on with pride. This production is a must-see for all ages!” said Miss Lily, the show’s director and choreographer.
The cast includes Grayson Ainsworth, Molly Cairns, Annie Carlow, Troy Sellick, Skyraya Darrell, Aiden Etchu Tunney, Darren Etchu Tunney, Onora Ferris, Izzy Goodwin, Harley Goomas, Winter Goomas, Mallory Maynard, Mulligan Maynard, Harper Pelletier, Maizlyn Pickard, Marleah Stevens and Alex Wolff.

“Beauty and the Beast JR” tells the story of Belle, an adventurous girl, and her captor, the ugly Beast, who is actually a young prince under a curse. To break the curse, the Beast must learn to love others and get that love returned before time runs out. With the help of the castle’s magical wand, including a charming teapot, an attractive candelabra and a nervous mantel clock, Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and love that neither of them thought possible. “Beauty and the Beast JR” features classic songs from the Academy Award-winning film, including “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical.
