Bella Thorne calls out Ozempic for unrealistic beauty standards

For a while, it felt like we’d made great strides when it came to accepting and feeling positive about our bodies, but the recent surge in popularity of GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic has reignited the desire to lose weight. Weight-loss drugs can have huge, life-changing health benefits for people struggling with obesity, but Ozempic’s use in Hollywood has generally been recreational and superficial, with actress Bella Thorne commenting on it.

Bella Thorne talks about using Ozempic in Hollywood

It feels like every celebrity is taking Ozempic these days, even if they have no real reason to lose weight. This has a profound effect on how we see and feel about our bodies, not just as fans, but also other celebrities. This weekend, Bella Thorne opened up in a candid Instagram Story about how Hollywood’s use of Ozempic has affected her own self-image. Wearing a blue patterned bikini and showing off her incredible physique, Thorne admitted, “I’ve just not been happy with my body, especially lately, because everyone’s taking Ozempic.”

The actress and director’s argument doesn’t stop there, countering that the weight-loss drug fad has created “ridiculous beauty standards that no one can keep up with unless they take Ozempic.” Thorne detailed her training routine, which involves swimming every day, walking everywhere, and sweating “as much as I can,” all of which she says helped her regain confidence in her body. She ends the long-awaited video with, “I’m finally feeling good, so get out there, Ozempic.”

I plan to channel this energy into the rest of the summer. Thank you, Bella!
