Ah, Lady Gaga. The woman who is the polar opposite of casual attire: a performance just by being there. And this week, she’s playing the part of “regular person.” Lady Gaga arrived in Paris on Monday, July 22, in an uncharacteristically understated outfit, incorporating the dad hat trend twice throughout the day and wearing dark sunglasses. (According to Variety, Gaga is rumored to be performing at the 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on July 26.) Of course, even in her casual attire, she looked high fashion.

The superstar was photographed earlier in the day wearing a loose-fitting jean jacket and a blue denim baseball cap with a large white Celine Triomphe logo stitched on the front. She added some glamour with black cat-eye Linda Farrow sunglasses.
The singer then changed her sunglasses for black aviator sunglasses by Burberry, changed her outerwear for an oversized boxy leather jacket by Duchy, swapped her Celine cap for a logoless, slightly distressed black dad hat, and swapped her sunglasses for Burberry ones.

The dad hat trend is all the rage this summer. Katie Holmes has been rocking a new dad hat almost every day lately, pairing it with her go-to Madewell bag and ballet flats. Dad hats have been one of Jennifer Lawrence’s go-to accessories all season. Even Rihanna is putting her own spin on the baseball cap.

While dark sunglasses are a Gaga staple, dad hats make a minor appearance in her wardrobe. Even off-duty, Gaga maintains an edgy, upscale punk look in Saint Laurent leather platform heels and a Matrix-inspired trench coat. Her growing dad hat collection could signal a new aesthetic as she prepares for the release of her next album.
Gaga has worn a number of dreamy headpieces during her summer performances. At last month’s Midsummer Celebration event at Nemacolin, her stage outfit included a metallic gold palm leaf headpiece that concealed half of her face, a black feather headpiece that added at least a foot to her height, and a sculptural, abstract pink veil.

During her Las Vegas shows this year and last, Gaga wore a peacock headband, a red jeweled crown, and a giant showgirl headpiece, but stylistic aside, no headpiece was more surprising than her dad hat.
