Along with handbags and boots, jewellery is one of the most used items in your wardrobe. But when jewellery comes into contact with sunscreen, water, hand sanitiser and sweat, it can tarnish your favourite sparkling piece. Whether you bought a necklace from a high street store or splashed out a ton of money on gold (or gold plating), it’s no good having your jewellery tarnish. If this sounds familiar, we’d like to introduce you to an affordable jewellery brand called Hey Harper.

The brand’s mission is to democratize high-quality designer jewelry, which means they create highly fashionable, seemingly expensive, yet very reasonably priced jewelry. Plus, and this is the best part – Hey Harper is waterproof, so tarnishing won’t ruin your style this summer. “Jewelry doesn’t have to be gold or expensive to last — it needs to be quality, and quality is the standard, not a luxury,” says Catalina Oliveira, founder and CEO of Hey Harper.

So how do they stay waterproof and tarnish-free? Well, it’s a bit of science, but bear with us. While other jewelry brands often use gold or silver plating, Hey Harper uses something called “Physical Vapor Deposition” (PVD), a coating process that is said to be 10 times stronger than gold or silver coatings. In fact, Hey Harper is so confident in the durability of their jewelry that they offer a lifetime color guarantee.

I have the Grace Huggie hoop earrings and the Eloise bracelet, and both are as good quality as they look and are comfortable to wear – just the right weight to feel solid without weighing down your earlobes, for example.

The Cosmo fashion team aren’t the only big fans of the brand – Elizabeth Debicki is a fan as well, having worn the brand’s jewelry while playing Princess Diana in season six of The Crown. The late Princess was known for her signature chunky gold earrings, and the ’80s accessory has made a huge comeback in recent years, with Hay Harper’s designs being very on-trend.
