Miss SVG 2023 takes 4-week beauty industry course with Taiwan’s Alina Hui
Miss SVG 2023 Alina Foy is currently taking a four-week beauty industry course in Taipei, Taiwan, courtesy of the Taiwan International Cooperation Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF).
The historic visit, and a testament to the relationship between the Beauty Show Committee and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), sees Ms. Foy as the first reigning queen to visit Taiwan to take part in a program of this kind.
As the reigning Queen, Ms. Foy will have the opportunity to hone her skills in entrepreneurship, personal beauty, styling and special effects makeup, with an emphasis on hands-on practice in a professional environment with industry leaders. Upon her return, Ms. Foy will lead sessions as a SEED instructor, providing opportunities for other St. Vincentians to succeed in the industry.
Ms. Foy, popularly known as Lena Slaya, who has launched her own make-up studio business, “Slaya’s Place”, spoke about her participation, saying she was honoured to have been given the opportunity, which will definitely contribute to her professional growth and the development of the industry in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Ms. Huy expressed her gratitude to the Taiwan International Cooperation Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) for giving her this opportunity. She will return to Taiwan on August 9, 2024 to continue her duties in preparation for the Miss SVG pageant on October 5, 2024.
