It’s fun to say the least.

Amazon Alexa has recently gotten even more capable thanks to a Gen Z vocabulary update designed to help older users who struggle to speak the language of today’s 20-somethings.

According to the Mirror, the new feature, “Alexa, talk about Gen Z,” will explain 20 expressions popular among Gen Z, including “mid,” “sas” and “hot girl summer,” with definitions and examples.

“Alexa is ready to answer any question, including understanding the latest jargon,” said Meriem Thom, UK country manager for Amazon Alexa, which conducted research in the UK that uncovered a communication disconnect between older and younger people.

“Our research shows that many Brits are struggling to keep up with Gen Z lingo, and we hope Alexa’s new features will become a trusted source of knowledge for anyone looking to refresh their Gen Z vocabulary,” Tom said.

The update comes at a time when 35% of the critical generation are very annoyed when older people misuse slang, according to Amazon.

This is despite the fact that 83% of young people are well aware that they have no idea what their elders are saying.

But the party may soon be over, as more than half of non-Gen Zers — 56% to be exact — said they would like to understand a new language.

Meanwhile, the survey found that 65% of Gen Zers are learning cryptic words from TikTok, young people’s favourite social media network.

Just in case there are any words stuck in your head that you can’t explain for free, here is the complete list of terms that Alexa will be able to explain to anyone who is interested.

20 Z-isms that Alexa can explain

Gen Z has a lot of terminology that confuses older generations: pressmaster – stock.adobe.com Lowkey — something subtle It’s giving — the tone something mimics Ick — something appalling Slay — showing off with pride Rizz — having swagger or charisma The math is mathing — making logical sense Tea — gossip Lives rent-free in my head — an object or event that causes obsession Mid — mundane Sus — short for suspicious Ate — an expression of admiration for someone who is consuming success Hot Girl Summer — encouraging them to be themselves and thrive without reservation Cap — telling a lie Slaps — to describe something as a hit Fam — short for family, similar to “bro” Lit — something exciting or fun Drip — being stylish Airing — to ignore In your XXX era — to describe chronic feelings or preferences that a person has
