“These pants kept popping up on my Instagram feed so I finally just had to pop into the store and try them on to see what all the fuss was about. I tried on both the classic crepe and the linen, but ultimately decided on the linen because I thought it was more versatile. The material is a little thicker than other linen items I own, so it’s super breathable and comfortable, but doesn’t wrinkle as easily. I usually wear pants between a size 8 and 10, but as with most Aritzia items, I ended up sizing up larger. In fact, I also tried on the satin version of the pants, and honestly found a 12 more comfortable than a 10. Another thing to note about Aritzia sizing is that the pants are almost always made longer, which is ideal for me at 5’10”, but can be frustrating for petite shoppers. I didn’t even need the tall length; the regular length was just right to wear with flats, sandals, or sneakers. [Editor’s Note: Aritzia offers the style in petite sizing]
I wear these pants at least once a week, sometimes more, because they are easy to dress up or down depending on my schedule. I wear them with a blazer and button-up at the office and they feel comfortable and sophisticated. I also wear them with a cute crop top and sandals at a BBQ, or with a plain cotton tee and sneakers when traveling. I’ve been checking out the Aritzia website a few times to decide if I want another pair, but I’m not sure which color I want. Whatever I decide, I’ll get the low rise pants next time for a more casual look.
As for washing, I thought it would need to be dry cleaned, but when I checked the label I saw that it was, in fact, machine washable. It came back nicely ironed and looked and felt great, so I plan to do that for the time being. I haven’t put it through a regular wash yet, but to prevent shrinkage I would recommend hanging or laying it flat to dry rather than putting it in the dryer.” — Abbie Hepworth, Fashion Editor
