Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has been awarded the prestigious Award of Excellence in the Urban Transport category.
The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has won the prestigious Urban Transport Excellence Award in the category of ‘City with the best record of public participation in transport’, officials announced on Sunday.
BMTC stood out among other urban transport agencies and local governments across the country in a competitive selection process held in early October 2024.
According to officials, the award was given by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The award ceremony was held on October 27, 2024 at Mahatma Gandhi Mandir Convention Center, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Mr. Ramachandran R., Managing Director of BMTC, received the award from Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal.
This prestigious recognition by the Government of India recognizes BMTC’s efforts to ensure public safety and promote an environment-friendly transportation system. This award is a testament to BMTC’s commitment to engaging the public and introducing innovative solutions in urban transportation.

This award recognizes BMTC’s innovative implementation of an in-loop bus service in the HSR layout. This in-layout loop service is the first of its kind in India and has garnered national attention and recognition.
