Everyone keeps saying New York is back, but we can confirm that it is, in fact, officially back. And it’s all thanks to Black Fashion Fair. Founded by fashion multi-talent Antoine Gregory, Black Fashion Fair (BFF) celebrated its one year anniversary this past weekend with a curated dinner at Neuehaus and an epic cocktail after-party at Fotografiska’s Chapel Bar. Hosted by Theofilio founder and designer Edvin Thompson, run by Neuehaus, and generously supported by Migenta Tequila, the evening celebrated Gregory, his fellow Black designers at BFF, and the platform’s commitment to creating space for a new generation of Black designers. Friends, fashion icons (like Bethan Hardison), collaborators, and young Black pioneers in fashion all came together to honor the important work of Black Fashion Fair. It was not only a celebration of the work Gregory is putting in, but also a celebration of the community – the Black Fashion Fair community.
Renowned stylist and creative director Antoine Gregory founded Black Fashion Fair in 2020 as an organic extension of the work he was doing in the fashion industry and drawing on his own experiences. twitter Gregory built a platform to educate the masses about the past, present, and future of Black designers; an effort that transitioned into a curated retail experience called Black Fashion Fair. BFF’s mission is to “discover, support, and evolve Black designers and the communities they inspire,” and through this platform, Gregory created a hybrid conceptual retail space (and community) centered around supporting established and emerging Black brands. From collaborating with new Black pioneers in fashion photography to providing a reimagined marketplace for Black brands to thrive, Black Fashion Fair represents what it really looks like to make your own table.

Friday’s dinner was an intimate affair that oozed style, complete with a red carpet and Gregory in a stunning outfit by Wales Bonner. A-listers like Kerby Jean-Raymond, Raphael Saadiq, and Tiffany’s Ruba Abu Nimah were in attendance, mingling with supermodels Alton Mason and Anok Yai, and emerging designers like Layne Schlitt and Donte Livingston. The evening moved to the perennially chic Fotografiska Chapel Bar, where DJ Dylan Ali played, the cocktails flowed, and fashion’s rising black stars partied the night away beneath opulent chandeliers, all decked out to the nines.
