Minnesota’s Black Fashion Week takes center stage.

Now in its seventh year, the event brings together the state’s best designers, models and makeup artists in Minneapolis this week.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – For decades, she has worked tirelessly to shine a spotlight on the Twin Cities’ Black arts scene. Now, Natalie Moreau is gearing up for one of her busiest weeks of the year.

Morrow is the founder of Minnesota Black Fashion Week, a week-long event that gives local creators a platform to shine.

The event is now in its seventh year, and Moreau says from the beginning she intended to spotlight some of the areas where up-and-coming designers, models and makeup artists thrive. The lineup includes fashion shows, workshops, and the Minnesota Met Gala.

Minnesota has a thriving arts scene, and Morrow says she’s working to create pathways for artists of color.

“Minnesota is definitely a mecca for arts, culture and fashion here, and we definitely want that attention to be seen across the country,” Morrow told FOX 9’s Bisi Onyere Ele. told.

Moreau says her goal is to inspire people to dream big, but this isn’t her only business.

She is also the driving force behind the Twin Cities Black Film Festival, an event that has served as a platform for filmmakers of color for more than 20 years.

With increased support from sponsors, Moreau said she feels her event is starting to gain momentum.

Minnesota Black Fashion Week kicks off this Friday in downtown Minneapolis.
