Blake Lively, a self-proclaimed millennial, gives props to Gen Z for one of her many beauty hacks. On Monday, the actress and hair care mogul tried out a beauty regimen favored by the younger generation and gave it her thumbs up. Lively attended the 2024 CFDA Awards in a white-on-white blazer and gown, and makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez capitalized on the viral beauty trend to give Lively a sultry pout.
Lively posted a close-up photo of herself on her Instagram Story, in which she referenced the technique Gonzalez used.
“When @cgonzalezbeauty does a Gen Z eyeshadow lip trick to make your lips look bigger…” she wrote above the post, set to the hit song “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer Ta. “But then…” she added at the bottom of the photo.

In the next slide, Lively revealed the illusion by sharing a no-makeup selfie with her hair slicked back and her hair washed. She admitted that this method was much more effective and less painful than the method she used in high school.
“But then… you take off your makeup and embrace the fact that you’re a millennial girl. In high school, I wore lip gloss with an incredible amount of chili pepper in it to plump up. “They were committed to bad ideas,” she wrote. “I find eyeshadow to be much less painful than Carolina Reaper. Thank you @cgonzalezbeauty for not turning my mouth into an episode of Hot Ones.”

Lively was referring to the popular TikTok trend of using eyeshadow instead of lip liner to accentuate the shape of your lips. For this particular look, Gonzalez chose a dark shadow to outline Lively’s lips and finished off the lip combo with a bright pink shade with a glossy center.

The rest of Lively’s glamor consisted of a bronzed contour, fringed lashes, and loose, voluminous curls. Her Michael Kors outfit featured a long white dress with a cinched waist layered under an oversized blazer.
