Diotima’s Rachel Scott named American Women’s Wear Designer of the Year and Willy Chavarria named American Men’s Wear Designer of the Year
Council of Fashion Designers of America [CFDA] We celebrated the winners and honorees of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards hosted by Amazon Fashion at the American Museum of Natural History.
CFDA Chairman Tom Brown opened the ceremony by welcoming the winners, nominees and guests of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards.
Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo served as the night’s host.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph presented Diotima’s Rachel Scott with the American Womenwear Designer of the Year award, and Troye Sivan presented Willy Chavarria with the American Menswear Designer of the Year award.
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie announce Luar’s Raul Lopez as American Accessories Designer of the Year, while Molly Gordon and Brandon Maxwell are named Google Shopping’s American Emerging Designer of the Year. The Year Award was presented to Henry Zankov of Zankov.
Erykah Badu was named a fashion icon by Andre 3000.
Following remarks from Amazon Fashion Vice President Jenny Freshwater, Charles Melton and Kelsea Ballerini presented Coachtopia coaches with the Amazon Fashion Innovation Award. Creative Director Stuart Vevers accepted the award on behalf of the brand.
The Founder’s Award honoring Eleanor Lambert was presented by Marc Jacobs to Hamish Bowles.
Blake Lively presented Michael Kors with the Positive Change Award.
Anna Wintour presented Annie Leibovitz with the Media Award in honor of Eugenia Shepherd.
Molly Ringwald announces the tribute to Isabel Toledo from the newly renamed Isabel Toledo Board of Directors. Ruben Toledo accepted the award on behalf of his late wife.
Amy Griffin presented the International Award to Schiaparelli’s Daniel Rosebery.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Stephen Burroughs by Donna Karan and Todd Oldham.
Program highlights:
U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York urged guests to exercise their right to vote in the 2024 presidential election on Nov. 5.
French singer Isolt performed “MTV” from her new album “Mental”.
Nian Fish’s film captured the highlights of last year’s American fashion.
