With an identity rooted in storytelling, the Agency is now turning its customers into characters.
The cocktail bar at 817 N. Marshall St. will host an immersive murder mystery experience on Dec. 31, inviting more than 30 patrons to drink, investigate and try to survive.
The event is set at Ashford Manor, the Agency’s Davell Dutch base, reimagined as the vast home of a fictional and extremely wealthy bootlegging family. Upon crossing the threshold of the historic hotel, guests will be transported back in time to New Year’s Eve 1925, where they will adopt new personalities, uncover hidden clues, and play detective to solve a sudden and mysterious death.
“Since our founding, we have aimed to explore new and exciting ways to make going out at night not only delicious but also unforgettable and immersive,” agency partner Ryan Castellas said in a statement. “These experiences are our bread and butter, and we’re so excited to transport people to new worlds on the most festive night of the year.”
Throughout the evening, guests will be guided through a five-course cocktail menu that includes paired snacks and passed appetizers. All of these are created by Kat Doughty, Partner and Creative Director at the Agency.
Expect an absinthe-infused riff on the millionaire cocktail, a scotch and chamomile hot toddy, a gin, blanc aperitif, and a fragrant spritz featuring elderflower, white tea and orange blossom. As usual at the agency, the menu is available in full alcohol, non-alcohol or a combination of both.

Each element is designed to deepen the story and fully immerse guests in the world of the Ashford family, the agency shared in a news release, noting that every clue, interaction and conversation with staff and other participants could help solve the case. Prior to the event, attendees will receive a character file with a description of their personality and their connection to the Ashford family, allowing them to familiarize themselves with their role for the night.
“We were so excited to bring this experience to life. We loved building the story, creating the cocktails, and thinking through every moment our guests encountered,” Doughty said in a statement. We can’t wait to explore more of Dabel Dutch and share this amazing space in new ways on New Year’s Eve. Our hope is that everyone leaves feeling excited, surprised and completely part of the story. ”
Those who successfully solve the riddle will receive a prize from the wine and spirits company Brown-Forman.
Ashford Legacy will include two sessions on New Year’s Eve from 6pm to 8.30pm and 9pm to 11.30pm. A limited number of tickets to the event can be purchased online for $125 each, not including tip.
