Hello friends! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has finally hit the public, and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into some amazing bargains and share my favorites with you all, many of which are still in stock! I hope my finds help my fellow pear-shaped lovely ladies and medium-sized moms find some curvy fall outfits that really look great on them! For reference, I buy a size 10 and 12 this year.
Fall outfits that flatter your curves: knee-high boots, good American jeans, and a splash of red from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale
This year, we’re showcasing the best bargains and trending items we’ve picked from the sale, many of which are priced under $100. We’ve got it all, from sexy sweater and dress sets you can wear from day to night to statement jeans. Last year, I struggled to find denim I liked in the sale, but this year, I found four pairs of jeans that I’m super excited to wear this fall. While I wasn’t as excited about the bag and sweater selection, I did find some great jackets and shoes.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at our top picks and outfits you can’t miss: Eyes clear, cart full, you can’t lose!
boots
First, let me tell you about my favorite find from the sale: the Steve Madden Trapeze high knee boots. These boots are the epitome of chic and versatile style, perfect for pairing with dresses, skirts, and jeans. Trust me, you’ll want to wear them all season long. These boots will elevate any outfit. I love the vertical lines on the shaft of the boots, and they give the silhouette a more modern look than a mid-calf style. They have high heels, so they’re not great for walking long distances, but they look so chic with a dress that you won’t even notice the heels.
Jacket (M) | Jeans (12) | Flat shoes
This is my favorite outfit that I put together for this year’s NSale. These Good American jeans fit like a dream. I love the raw hem and the waist to hip ratio is perfect. Red is my favorite color, so red ballet flats make me super happy. Also, this cropped black utility jacket that I spotted on the rack when I walked into the store was a total surprise. I had this beautiful gray Rails jacket on my list initially, but wasn’t too keen on the price. Lo and behold, I found a Nordstrom branded jacket for under $100. It’s a very similar design, lightweight material, and perfect for shoulder season.
Dress & Sweater Set (M) | Boots
Last year, Kat and I went shopping together and bought this All Saints Hera Dress and Sweater Set (in burgundy), and she said I’d have to unfriend her if I didn’t buy the set. And she was right – the set has become a fall staple, worn together or separately. This set has been reintroduced this year in a super on-trend grey and black leopard print. How about a mafia wife meets punk princess look? It’s a mood booster, especially when paired with these Steve Madden knee-high boots.

Jacket (M)
Another favorite NSale find this year is this beautiful ivory patch pocket coat by Sam Edelman for under $100. I bought it to replace this amazing but out-of-budget chore jacket by VINCE. I paired this lovely simple but chic jacket with these burgundy Mary Jane pumps from Linea Paolo, which to me look like the perfect shoe for fall. Bonus point: these Mary Janes are actually super comfortable, which isn’t always the case with patent leather shoes.

Jeans (12)
I love wide-cuff jeans; they’re so sleek and dramatic. These Wit & Wisdom jeans exceed my expectations in terms of trendiness and comfort, all at a price point I’m comfortable with. The sizing was perfect for me; they are on the long side, but I paired them with chunky loafers, which made the hem length just right, as they are a little longer.
Jacket (M) | Jeans (12) | Flats Jeans (12) | Flats
Every year I try on designer denim from brands like Mother, Frame, and Paige. Every year, the jeans I end up buying, keeping, and wearing all the time are Good American Jeans. This brand is ahead of its time (pun intended) when it comes to flattering fuller figures. I love the two cropped styles above which allow me to show off my fun and funky shoe picks, and the straight leg style below which is relaxed and breezy. Note that while both of the cropped styles above fit me perfectly in a size 12, the straight leg style fits me best in a size 10.

Coats (2) | Boots
This coat from Reiss comes in the most beautiful scarlet color. We love the tie waist, side vents, and cozy material. However, this coat sold out quickly and most sizes are out of stock (so frustrating!). However, the theme of the sale is tomato red, so there are other great options, like this Bernardo coat and this incredibly cool Red Hot Moto Jacket from Cinq a Septs.
flat
Red flats were all the rage in the sale, and red is my favorite color, so I absolutely love them. I had my eye on these poppy red Mansur Gavriel multi-strap flats, but I just couldn’t justify spending $300 on red ballet flats. I love the square toe and price of these Nordstrom brand flats. However, the red color is currently out of stock in most sizes, so here are some alternatives to the shoe:

Blazer (M)
Finally, I try to buy practical pieces that I can wear to work. This oversized, double-lapel blazer can effortlessly transition from work to the weekend. It strikes the perfect balance between professional and relaxed, with a slightly loose fit that adds a modern feel without looking sloppy.
Jacket (M)
I’ll also be wearing this black cropped utility jacket with jeans or trousers for work events. The front pockets and prominent buttons add a sophisticated touch, giving the jacket a polished, put-together look. The cropped length pairs perfectly with high-waisted jeans or tailored trousers, creating a silhouette I love that flatters my body type.
Similar vest (M)
This square neck vest from Halogen is currently sold out, which is a pain. Hopefully they’ll restock before the sale ends, but we’ll see. That said, I love wearing a vest with denim, like this Open Edit vest, or with trousers for everyday wear. A vest feels a little fancier than a t-shirt, but doesn’t feel as restrictive as a button-up shirt.
8/ Best of the Rest: Random Finds
bag
Most of my finds this year were clothes, but I did buy one bag, one beauty item, and a few jackets and shoes that haven’t arrived yet. The only thing that caught my eye in the sale this year was this Dagne Dover crossbody bag for under $100. It’s the perfect size for everyday use and the color is very neutral. Is it a stunner? No, it’s not. But I’ll use it and at the end of the day it’s a solid buy for me.
My biggest beauty purchases this year are a lip kit from MAC that comes with a lip liner, lip gloss, and a coordinating colored lipstick (I bought the Pout Full of Posies set in a neutral pink). I love MAC’s lip liner because the pencil isn’t too soft so you can apply it precisely, and MAC’s Lip Glass is my favorite lip gloss ever because it seals really well so it’s perfect for my super dry lips.
I’m really happy with the bargains I’ve found this year, and I hope you are too. What have you bought that you know you’ll be able to wear all fall? Leave a comment below. And happy shopping, everyone!
