Diotima’s Rachel Scott won American Women’s Wear Designer of the Year at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion on Monday night. Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominated actress and songwriter Cynthia Erivo hosted an evening cocktail, dinner, and awards ceremony held at the American Museum of Natural History. Scott, along with industry veterans Marc Jacobs, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, was nominated by Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne and Tory Burch, and was presented with the award by actress Davine Joy Randolph.

Last year, Scott won the Shop With Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award at the CFDA Awards after launching her womenswear brand just three years ago. Since Diotima’s inception, the Jamaican-American designer has built a strong and stable reputation with an authentic, comprehensive and nuanced vision of Caribbean style through tailored, knit dressing and sportswear with handcrafted details. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie presented Raul Lopez with the American Accessories Designer of the Year award for his Brooklyn-based label Luar. The 2024 Shop With Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award, presented by Molly Gordon and designer Brandon Maxwell, was presented to Henry Zankov of Zankov.

The Russian-born American designer based in New York launched his eponymous vibrant men’s and women’s knitwear brand Zankov in 2020, and has worked with artists such as Tanner Richie and Fletcher Cassell (Tanner Fletcher). He competed against Jackson Wiederhoft (Wiederhoft), Connor McKnight, and Presley Oldham. Monday night.

Zankov and Scott were named 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runners-up, making the jump to the top award in just one year.

Stephen Burrows received the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from Donna Karan and Todd Oldham, and Coachtopia was recognized by Stuart Vevers (presenters Charles Melton and Kelsea Ballerini) on Amazon.
