Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Kalonzo Musioka renewed his praise for the protests against the government and continued his support for Gen Z.

Kalonzo has been one of Kenya’s most vocal critics of the anti-Kwanzaa movement and has almost always sided with young people as they continue to increase pressure on the government.

In a post shared on X on Sunday, July 21, 2024, the former Mwingi North Member of Parliament said the youths have taken the country back from the clutches of the ruling party and should be commended for their relentless consistency.

“Bishop Akiki Muyu, what you have done today at the Gospel Tabernacle Church, South B, Nairobi is prophetic, we are taking back what is ours and we praise the Almighty God.

“Generation Z used the Constitution to wrestle the country back from the clutches of the KK (Kenya Kwanzaa) regime. They reminded us of the Preamble to the Constitution. We thank them for their unwavering consistency.”

“They have brought a reawakened spirit to Kenya. It is truly a wonderful thing and we give all the glory to God,” the 2007 presidential candidate said.

Before President William Ruto announced his first cabinet nominees, Kalonzo led parts of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition in condemning moves to form a broad-based government with the Kaji Ni Kaji party. Broad opposition to government

In a press release on Friday, July 19, 2024, Wiper, along with Eugene Wamalwa and Jubilee Party’s Jeremiah Kioni, said forming a unity government with Kenya Kwanzaa would be tantamount to a betrayal of Generation Z.

“This is a betrayal of Kenyans, especially Gen Z and millennials, who have sacrificed so much to rid the country of the disastrous Kenya Kwanza regime, its draconian taxes (Finance Bill 2023/2024), corruption, tribalism, unemployment and the persistently high cost of living.”

“We will not participate and the reason is simple – such an action betrays the principles, values and beliefs of our coalition and component parties. As long as the Kenya Kwanza regime continues, absolutely nothing will change. Cabinet reshuffle and replacement of officials will only be cosmetic,” Azimio faction leaders said at the time Raila Odinga was out of power.

With Prime Minister Ruto set to nominate more people to his cabinet and Gen Z planning further protests, the actions and comments of opposition leaders will be closely watched.
