Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss knows what it’s like to try and win a championship, and he suggested current Las Vegas Raiders No. 1 wide receiver Davante Adams take a shot.
During an appearance on the “Up & Adams” show, Moss urged the 31-year-old Adams (no relation to show host Kay Adams) to find a team that could win the Super Bowl, ultimately suggesting the New York Jets might be his best option.
“I have no idea why he’s not going for a ring. I think he’s made enough money already, so if he’s going for a ring, I’m going for it,” said Moss, who ranks fourth all-time with 15,000 career receiving yards.
After a missed Super Bowl appearance with the Minnesota Vikings and two dismal years with the Raiders, Moss was traded to Tom Brady’s New England Patriots. Unfortunately for Moss, the New York Giants prevented the offensive superstar from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
Adams, who left the Green Bay Packers after the 2021 season, is playing for an organization that is in something of a rebuilding mode, unlike the Jets, who are a championship contender with Aaron Rodgers, Adams’ former teammate, at quarterback.
“They’re in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs, so I don’t think they’re going to win a championship anytime soon,” Moss said. “If he has to get out of there trying to win a championship, what would it be like playing with Aaron Rodgers again? What would that be like? I don’t know how the salary cap works.” [allow the Jets] To bring in a guy like Davante Adams is a great feeling.”
Adams and Rodgers formed one of the NFL’s most respected quarterback-writer duos during their eight seasons together in Green Bay. Adams helped Rodgers win consecutive NFL MVP awards and totaled 2,927 receiving yards and 29 receiving touchdowns in his final 30 regular-season games with the Packers.
“My advice to him is to continue to be himself and go get that ring. I wish him the best of luck and I hope he gets the ring,” Moss said.
“Get back with your quarterback.”
