The 2024 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), presented by Amazon Fashion Awards, was held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, celebrating the power players of the fashion industry and celebrating the next generation of American fashion designers.
The most fashionable celebrities stepped out in couture looks, performing stunts for the cameras and showcasing hot fashion trends like tailored suits, sheer dresses and dramatic silhouettes. Thom Browne, president of the CFDA, was a popular designer worn by many at the awards ceremony, including Erykah Badu, Jenna Lyons, Addison Rae, and more.

Erykah Badu received the Fashion Icon Award and wore Tome Brown. CFDA CEO Stephen Kolb told WWD that Badu:
“Maybe for a lot of people, she’s an unexpected icon at first, but when you really stop and think about it for a second, you realize how she dresses, how passionate she is about fashion. And you look at how much she loves fashion, fashion…” Kolb said. “She’s definitely the opposite of what you would expect. She’s talking about herself. [style] The feeling, that’s what comes through. ”
Andre 3000 attended the award ceremony and gave a speech praising Badu and her award. Watch his speech below.
Other CFDA 2024 winners include Rachel Scott of Diotima, who won American Womenswear Designer of the Year, and Willy Chavarria, who won American Menswear Designer of the Year.
