Count the Mayor of Saxonville on the corner of Fred Taylor.
The legendary Jacksonville Jaguars running back missed out on induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year despite being a finalist in his first year, but expectations are high that the greatest Jaguars running back in history will be coming to Canton sooner rather than later.
And for former Jaguars defensive lineman Calais Campbell, Taylor’s eventual induction is a given. Campbell said on social media Thursday that Taylor “deserves a gold jacket.”

The Jaguars selected Taylor with the ninth overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida, and he went on to break franchise records over a career that spanned more than a decade.
The Jaguars will induct former offensive tackle Tony Boselli as the franchise’s first Hall of Fame player in 2022, so all eyes will be on Taylor this coming Jaguars season.
Taylor totaled 13,632 yards and 70 touchdowns in his career, most of which came with Jacksonville. He is the franchise’s all-time leading rusher with 11,271 yards, more than 3,000 more than any other running back. He ranks 17th all-time in career rushing yards.
When it came to his playing career, which lasted from 1998-2010, Taylor checked most of the boxes, rushing for over 1,000 yards in seven of his 13 seasons and scoring 32 rushing touchdowns in his first three seasons alone.
