Jewelry Brand Reviews by Fashion Editors

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m interested in the finer things in life. Champagne, designer shoes, cashmere, expensive skin care, luxury handbags, diamonds, lots… This is an unfortunate disease that I have suffered from since childhood, made even more so by the fact that I can’t actually afford any of them. It’s getting tragic. These things (fml).

Through sheer hard work and determination, I’ve managed to acquire some discount price treasures over the years. I scour vintage and thrift stores every week, and spend more time scrolling through eBay, Depop, and Vestiaire than I do. We are careful about disclosure and strive to participate in many designer sample sales. But I’m still a long way from having the amazing Carrie Bradshaw-esque wardrobe I’ve always dreamed of.

But one thing I’m really proud of is my jewelry collection. I always believe that well-chosen jewelry can elevate even the simplest outfit and make it look put together instantly. Not to mention, it’s more expensive. I’m talking about stunning earrings, carefully layered necklaces, stacks of chunky bangles, or perfectly picked ears. But unlike my other fashion obsessions, beautiful jeweled items are well within reach without breaking the bank. If you know where to look, that’s…

So without further ado, let me tell you about a little-known secret of mine: Mejuri. Affordable, stylish, modern, and high quality, this is a jewelry brand that every fashion editor I know is coveted. That is, because it looks much more expensive than it actually is. As well as industry insiders, the label has many celebrity fans including Sydney Sweeney, Sofia Richie, Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez and Emrata.

Noura Sakkijha founded Mejuri in 2015 with a mission to transform fine jewelry into everyday occasions. The Toronto-based brand has quickly become known for its stylish, minimalist designs that stand the test of time while being affordable. As the brand itself states: “Big brands in our industry mark up their products 8-10 times the actual cost. We do things differently. To make it accessible, we build relationships with the best manufacturers and sell directly to our customers. Fundamentally, our jewelry is made with the same finest materials and quality craftsmanship as other fine jewelry brands. Although it is handcrafted with skill, there is no traditional price increase.”

Over the years, I’ve seen so many brands make bold claims that I initially thought were a little too good to be true. So, I carefully purchased a pair of mini hoop earrings and put them to the test. It has been stored for over a year without being taken out, but there are no noticeable stains or scratches. It’s as shiny and great as the day it arrived. That’s probably due to the fact that it’s made from solid 14K gold and only costs 38 pounds. For context, a similar item I was looking for from *that* famous earring brand (you know) would cost upwards of £100… Now, this is simply not up for debate. Mathematics for girls.

Naturally, then the floodgates opened and I found myself purchasing Mejri’s work at an alarming rate. It’s no wonder the brand releases new designs every week and only in limited quantities. But I have no regrets. Because they’re all still going strong and I know these are the ones I’ll be wearing forever. Take, for example, the statement Dôme ring. This costs just £68 and gets compliments almost every day. Or those super cool mixed metal silver and gold link earrings that my friend genuinely thought were Tiffany’s.

What I love most about Mejuri is that I can finally realize my dream of being the person who casually wears diamonds and pearls. Sure, Mejuri is strictly an affordable jewelry brand, but there are some pricier styles to shop for, too. If I hadn’t discovered this brand, I wouldn’t have been able to have this luxury. Now, my collection is gradually enriched with delicate diamond necklaces and pearl-encrusted earrings, which add more understated everyday charm to my look than any designer bag ever could.

I’m personally a gold person, but this brand also caters to those who prefer silver accessories. There really is something for everyone!

Of all the jewelry I own, the Mejri pieces are definitely the ones that get the most attention when I wear them. It’s not just the design that makes a statement. Mejuri does the “basics” particularly well. Create sophisticated ears with slim hoops and delicate studs, and build them up over time with simple chains that can be worn alone for understated elegance, or cute pendants (incidentally, you can also add them to earrings). ). All of these are made from sterling silver or gold, giving them a shine you won’t get with lower-priced luxury items.
