Jordan Chiles knows what a successful beauty routine is.
After all, her skincare and makeup will be put to the ultimate test – whether they can withstand all the impressive flips and spins she performs while competing.
The gold medal-winning gymnast is currently competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris as part of Team USA, where she just won gold with her teammates in the women’s team final, and she shared all her beauty tips and tricks with Vogue in a Beauty Secrets tutorial, including how to keep your makeup on during competitions.
The breakdown is as follows:
Chiles, 23, starts by prepping her skin with an eight-step beauty routine that includes cleanser, toner, three serums (including one for under the eyes), moisturizer, sunscreen and an eye patch (in that order).
Her collection features products from cult-favorite brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Summer Fridays, and Bliss, so she definitely knows what she’s talking about when it comes to skincare.
“As women, we always have to be so prepared and this and that and look good, and I think it’s really interesting how much women are actually enjoying the beauty side of things,” Childs said before starting to apply makeup.
“It took me a while to embrace my beauty, but now I embrace it and I love it. I love waking up in the morning and doing my skincare, I love putting on makeup and just enjoying every moment of being a woman,” she added.

That goes for her 26-step makeup routine, which consists of 15 of her favorite products (including foundation, concealer, primer, eyeshadow, lip oil, liner, blush, contour, and eyebrows).
It may be a little complicated, but there are certain parts of her look that lend themselves to gymnastics, she explains.
For example, she uses One Size Secure The Blur Makeup Magnet Primer to help keep her makeup in place. “Primer is so important to me. We sweat and we cry (happy tears, sad tears, any kind of tears),” she said.
She also pays special attention to the area around her eyes, applying an eyeshadow primer and strategically placing concealer and setting powder (both from Fenty Beauty) on the inner corners of her eyes for a luminous effect that will look good under the spotlight during competition.
Childs said that after practice or before a game, he typically spends several hours getting ready, half of which is spent napping, showering and eating, and the rest is for fun.

But now she has perfected her routine, as the Paris Games will be her second opportunity to compete in the world’s biggest sporting event.
Childs competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan, where she won a silver medal in the team event. Ahead of her trip to the City of Light, Childs told Vogue she now feels like she has a firmer idea of what’s going on.
“When I went to my first Olympics I was 19 years old and I was just trying to have fun and discover myself as a person and as an athlete. Now I’m 23, I know the course, I’ve been to the Olympics before, I know who I am, so now I’m bringing you all the Jordan Chills,” she said.
