Karl Urban announces Prime Video’s The Boys season 5 will premiere in 2026

Be prepared for a somewhat long wait to see how phase two of Homelander and Sister Sage’s dastardly plan for America unfolds. In a post on his Instagram account, actor Karl Urban confirmed that the final season of The Boys won’t begin streaming until 2026.

“Working alongside the renowned Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been a highlight of my days every day. That’s all for @theboystv everyone. See you in 2 years (and hopefully sooner) on Prime Video for the final season,” Urban wrote.

With the end of the show’s fourth season, The Boys has strayed far enough from its source material (the 2006 Dynamite comic book series by Garth Ennis and illustrator Darick Robertson) that it’s anyone’s guess how the show will end.

As for why the show is ending with season five, series creator Eric Kripke previously said, “Partly because of clumsy writerly silliness, but three and five are these big magic numbers in writing.”

“Three in the film, five on TV. Three out of five jokes. I think five is a nice round number. Enough to tell the story, enough to bring it to a climax without boring you. It was hard because I didn’t get to tell everyone. I’m glad I finally got to let the world know.”

The Boys season 4 stars Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Cameron Crovetti. Supporting roles this season include Susan Hayward, Valorie Curry, Jessie T. Usher and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The Boys, created by Kripke in 2019, has become one of the streamer’s most important shows and has spawned two successful spinoffs, Gen V and The Boys Presents: Diabolical. A third spinoff, The Boys: Mexico, is also in development.

The Boys Season 4 synopsis: The world is in danger. Victoria Newman is closer to the Oval Office than ever before and under the aggressive control of Homelander, whose powers are on the rise. With only a short time left to live, Butcher has lost Becca’s son and his job as leader of The Boys. The rest of the team are tired of his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must work together to find a way to save the world before it’s too late.”
