Earlier this summer, Eric Kripke confirmed that The Boys would end with season 5. Now, Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, has confirmed on Instagram that the final season will premiere in two years, in 2026.
Urban shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram account, expressing his joy of working with co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, saying, “Working with the renowned @jeffreydeanmorgan was a great time every day. So much for @theboystv, folks. So… in 2 years (and wishing it was sooner), the final season will air on @primevideo.” The post includes several photos of Urban alongside Morgan behind the scenes of the latest season. In season 4, Urban stars alongside the main cast of Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. This season, Susan Hayward, Valorie Curry, Jessie T. Usher, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan appear in supporting roles.
The show was created by Kripke in 2019 and has been a huge success on Prime Video. The show deviates from the original 2006 comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, making it an unpredictable show for fans. Previously, Kripke explained why he decided to end the show with season 5: “Part of it is just so clumsy and stupid of me as a writer, but three and five are big magic numbers in writing.” He added, “Three is the act of film, five is the act of TV. Three out of five jokes are runners. Five just seemed like a nice round number. Enough to tell the story, but also bring it to a climax without getting boring. It’s been hard to tell everyone. I’m excited to finally let the world know.”
Fans of The Boys will have to wait until 2026 for the final episode.
