Fans of “The Boys” will have to wait patiently to see the intense showdown between Billy Butcher and Homelander, as “The Boys” season 5 has a tentative release date announced for one of the show’s biggest stars.
Karl Urban recently revealed that season 5 of his hit Prime Video series will be coming out in two years. The news came as disappointment to many, including Urban himself, a fan eagerly awaiting the show’s return. After the dramatic season 4 finale, Urban posted a striking photo on Instagram of The Butcher holding a bloody crowbar. In the caption, Urban wrote, “Working alongside the renowned Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the best time of my life. That’s all.” [The Boys] Anyway, everyone, see you in 2 years (or hopefully sooner) for the final season on Prime Video.”

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has hinted that Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy in the show’s final season.
Before the release of season four, it was confirmed that the upcoming fifth season would be the final one for The Boys. Creator Eric Kripke explained the reasoning behind this decision: “It’s a really clumsy and stupid thing to say as a screenwriter, but three and five are these big magic numbers in screenwriting. Three is an act for movies, five is an act for TV. Jokes are a three runner against five. Five just seemed like a nice round number. Enough to tell the story and still bring it to a climax without getting boring.”
The Boys Season 4 Review Bombed
With season 4 now wrapped, The Boys has deviated significantly from the source material and reached new heights in storytelling. Despite this, the latest season garnered the lowest audience score in the series’ history, but it still maintains high ratings. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Boys season 4 has a record-low audience rating of 49%, which is in stark contrast to previous seasons, which boasted scores of 95% for season 1, 83% for season 2, and 75% for season 3.

Season 4 of The Boys ended on a tragic note, foreshadowing plenty of action, romance, and bloodshed in the Prime Video series’ fifth and final season.
Interestingly, audience ratings are in stark contrast to critics’ ratings, which are an impressive 95%, just below the high of 98% for Season 3. While showrunner Eric Kripke has praised the critical reception for Season 4, the plummeting audience ratings since the three-episode premiere on June 13 tell a different story. Many believe the negative reviews are due to dissatisfaction with the show’s political implications and the shrinking of certain characters.
Although fans will be waiting a long time for new episodes of the main series, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any content from the world of The Boys. Gen V Season 2 is currently in production, and given this season’s crossovers, there’s excitement building to see which characters from the main series will appear in the spinoff.
