Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher on the hit superhero show The Boys, has revealed when the show’s fifth and final season will be released. According to Urban, fans will have to wait until 2026 for the new season to premiere. The announcement was made in a social media post, where Urban shared a photo with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Joe Kessler on the series. Urban’s caption wrote that season 5 won’t air for “two years,” hinting at a possible summer 2026 release date.
The Boys season 4 ended with the team being captured by Vought soldiers and Homelander becoming the leader of the Legion of Superheroes after martial law was declared, while Butcher is venturing into uncharted territory with the superhero virus. Production on the final season is set to begin in November 2024, with filming expected to wrap up in 2025. Given the significant events expected in the final episode, the extended production schedule is necessary to ensure a fitting conclusion for the series.
The series has also expanded into multiple spinoffs, which could affect storylines in the final season. “Gen V” Season 2 will explore the aftermath of the Godolkin virus, a key story element in “The Boys” Season 4.
