With the spring edition of Minnesota Black Fashion Week taking place May 3-11, founder Natalie Moreau aims to give local designers the time in the spotlight they’ve long felt. Masu.
“My goal is to bring attention to the fact that we have fashion and we have very talented designers and models from Minnesota,” she said. “We hope that the industry as well as the local community will buy clothing from them and support them.”
For Black Fashion Week, which takes place in the spring and fall, Moreau strives to keep things fresh. This spring’s show will bring back the popular all-dressed Minnesota Met Gala and spotlight established artists, but themed events and up-and-coming designers will also be part of the lineup.
“We definitely want to show the versatility of these designers,” Moreau said. “Some people emphasize upcycling and reusing, and I think that’s great.”
