Most searched fashion items in Q2

Lyst has released its Q2 2024 report, detailing the hottest designers, must-have items, and brands to watch in the fashion industry based on search growth and customer data. In a somewhat surprising twist, LOEWE has once again topped the list of the most talked-about brands in the world, a result of its continued impressive brand ambassadors, collaborations, and of course, challengers. In second place is Miu Miu (the most talked-about brand last quarter), followed by Prada, with Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta rounding out the top five.

Meanwhile, the report noted that Coach re-appeared in the Lyst Index for the first time since 2022, debuting at number 20. Coach’s return reflects an overall resurgence this year, including its affordable prices, the rise of vintage silhouettes and the Tabby bag, which also appeared on the hottest items list for the quarter.

In addition to showcasing the most popular items and brands, the index also showcases brands that are seemingly “evolving fast” and climbing the ranks. This quarter, On Running took the top spot, which is no surprise given its brand ambassadors like Zendaya and FKA twigs, as well as its ongoing collaboration with Loewe.

Check out this quarter’s hottest items below, and for the full report, visit Lyst’s website.

1. LOEWE x ON Cloudtilt LOEWE 2.0

The ON x LOEWE Cloudtilt 2.0 sneaker was the hottest product of the quarter, with the collaboration driving a 308% increase in searches for On after its release. The new colorway debuted in May of this year after the duo first teamed up in October 2023, coinciding with the release of the film The Challengers, which featured costume designs by LOEWE Creative Director Jonathan Anderson.

2. Adidas SL72 sneakers

The adidas SL72 OG was the second most popular product in Q2, behind the Samba, which enjoyed a year of popularity in 2023. The popularity of the new silhouette seems to signal a shift towards more refined, sport-inspired footwear and that the Samba may be becoming oversaturated and consumers are looking for something different. The silhouette was also recently featured in a collaboration with It-girl brand Sporty & Rich, which likely contributed to its rise in popularity.

3. Coach Tabby Bag

Coach is a big player in this quarter’s report, returning to the hottest brands rankings and appearing on the hottest items list. The Tabby bag has become more popular in recent months due to its classic, timeless silhouette and the overall increased appeal of Coach.

4. Casablanca shirt

Next up is Casablanca’s classic crochet knit shirt, which saw a 161% increase in searches quarter-over-quarter, likely driven by the rise of the tenniscore trend combined with seasonal interest in resort and vacation wear.

5. Dragon Diffusion Santa Croce Tote Bag

Dragon Diffusion is new to Lyst, and its Santa Croce woven leather tote bag ranks fifth on the list of most popular products. Searches for the brand’s custom bags increased 197% in the past quarter, likely due to it being a more affordable alternative to Bottega Veneta’s intrecciato weave and the growing popularity of its cherry red hue.

6. High sports flare pants

Similarly, High Sport is new to Lyst and saw searches for the brand increase 42% during the quarter. The brand was founded by Alissa Zachary, who spent 10 years in merchandising at The Row and has worked with brands like Khaite. The brand’s red flared pants ranked sixth on the list of most popular products.

7. AMYLYNN PUFFBALL DRESS

Coming in at number seven is AMYLYNN’s new Puffball Dress, with searches for the style increasing by 53% in April after the dress went viral on TikTok, generating over 61.6 million posts. Affordable (£109) and available in a range of colours, the dress boasts a flattering silhouette and a versatile design that can be cinch or tie depending on the wearer’s preference, further increasing its buzz.

8. COS Fisherman Sandals

Next on our list are COS fisherman sandals, a surprising addition to the overall rise in ballet flats, mules, and hybrid silhouettes. While their popularity is likely fueled by the growing demand for unique summer sandals and flats, this cost-effective option will rival higher-priced brands like The Row and alaia.

9. Dries Van Noten sneakers

Similar to Adidas’ SL72 sneakers, Dries Van Noten’s suede options reflect a shift towards sports and spike-inspired shapes in footwear, fusing a variety of brat-inspired greens (i.e., the color of the season) for a striking look.

10. Prada Symbole Sunglasses

Finally, Prada’s Symbole sunglasses come in at number 10. Their alien-like shape is reminiscent of recent sunglasses released by brands like Gentle Monster, Mugler, Balenciaga, and Maison Margiela. Their sleek black frames and cat-eye shape suggest that classic styles like square and rectangular tortoiseshell frames are on the way out for now, with darker, edgier styles becoming the new fashion fan favorite.
