A bizarre incident at Churchgate station has disrupted the Virar-bound Western Line service. A jacket has got stuck in the overhead wire at platform 2, preventing the train from moving smoothly. The Virar-bound Western Line train is running at a slower speed as the jacket has got stuck in the overhead wire. The disruption has been ongoing for around 10 to 15 minutes. RPF personnel are working frantically to remove the jacket from the overhead wire.
The chaos has caused delays and inconvenience to commuters, with trains running slowly and stations crowded with people.
More disruption on the Central Line
Meanwhile, Central Line operations were also affected early today. Due to a technical glitch in an express train near Thakurli station, train services to Kalyan were disrupted. The down line was affected and several trains were halted at one point. The glitch in the signalling system has since been rectified and local services are gradually returning to normal. Local trains are currently running 5-10 minutes behind schedule. Passenger congestion at Kalyan station has subsided.
IMD Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai over the next 24 hours. Local trains on all three routes have been delayed due to the weather conditions.
