Gen Z’s distinctly different work-life balance requirements are seen as the biggest challenge facing employers looking to adapt to a new generation of workers, according to a new global study by Wipro’s experience innovation company DesignIt. are.
Almost half of survey respondents (49%) said Gen Z’s work-life balance demands are the biggest challenge for employers, followed by the need to align with Gen Z’s values (38%) .
Both of these are considered much more difficult for employers than maintaining creativity (8%) or embracing the technological innovations required to engage digital natives (6%).
With Gen Z expected to make up a quarter of the global workforce by 2025, Designit’s research shows how companies can attract younger employees, especially since employee experience directly impacts customer experience. It highlights how companies need to change dramatically to engage and retain them.
Dr. Pardis Shafafi, Global Responsible Business Leader at Designit (in partnership with Los Angeles World Airports to develop a unique digital airport employee experience platform, Altitude) said: Masu. “There is a general feeling that Gen Z is difficult to work with; they are cavalier and actively withhold creativity, energy, and commitment. At the forefront of that perception is a desire for better work-life balance.
“But rather than blaming Gen Z for their lack of effort or motivation, a better approach for employers is to recognize that complacency is not a problem to be solved. It’s an evolution of thinking, and it’s employers who need to adapt.
“Many employers are focused on employee experience and are already aware that employees increasingly demand transparency, honesty and a commitment to shared values in the workplace. Companies that recognize their priorities and change their practices accordingly will have better success in both attracting and retaining Gen Z talent.
“This means creating an environment that respects Gen Z’s values while providing a fair and transparent exchange for our employees’ time and energy.
“Generation Z is increasingly motivated by the common good, strong corporate values, and the provision of fair and transparent transactions for the time being. When neither is available, apathy will prevail. Gen Z Employers who proactively respond to these changes will thrive as they become a dominant force in the workplace.”
