Princess Anne and her mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, had a strong bond, and the princess royal has found a charming way to keep her beloved mother close after her death.
The 75-year-old paid tribute to the late king last week by attending the British Standards Institute’s International Electrotechnical Commission annual general meeting in Edinburgh wearing items from her mother’s wardrobe.
For the annual event, Princess Anne wore Queen Elizabeth’s purple suede jacket, which features a timeless checked design. She paired it with a navy checkered skirt and underneath it a high neck blouse with a silky print.
To ward off the Scottish cold, Princess Anne wore cozy-looking gloves.
Eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed that the bold purple number originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, and most recently in 2010 when she disembarked the Princess of the Hebrides at Scrabster Harbor, also in Scotland. He was wearing a number.
Perhaps this cheerful jacket is sitting in the wardrobe at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Or perhaps it’s in Balmoral’s wardrobe, considering it was worn by two British royal women during their stay in Scotland.

Many royal fans were quick to notice that this item was apparently borrowed from Princess Anne’s mother, but what they didn’t realize was that this was the first time Princess Anne, 74, would wear this jacket. It’s not the first time.
The Princess Royal also wore the garment during an outing in Nottingham in February 2024.
purple reign
Currently, Princess Anne’s favorite color appears to be purple. While many people choose to wear the trendy color burgundy, the royal family has been drawn to purple, and last week she wore the beautiful color as well.
During the same visit to Edinburgh, the Princess wore a regal purple coat to attend the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s 200th anniversary celebrations.
The coat she chose featured two shades of purple, with a deep purple velvet color contrasting with the lavender of the main garment.
