The Spidi Tek Net is a premium textile jacket available on the Reise Moto website, priced at Rs 18,699.
Reise Moto started out by manufacturing tyres in India but has come a long way since then. Catering to the needs of many enthusiasts, the company also imports premium riding gear. Recently, Reise Moto also opened its first riding gear and accessories store in Andheri West, Mumbai. Over the past few months, we have been using the premium textile jacket, Spidi Tek Net, for our daily commute and photoshoots. Here is our detailed review of it.
Design, comfort and breathability
The Spidi Tek Net is a very good looking jacket with a premium finish and is available in six colours. The one featured in this review is a bold colour combination of black, blue and red, with the Spidi logo in white on the right sleeve.
This jacket comes with mesh panels on the chest, arms and back that will definitely help you in the harsh weather of summer. The design also features adjustment buttons on the straps at the arms, wrists and waist. It also has a clip connection at the bottom that can be attached to your pants.
As for sizing, I usually wear a small or medium depending on the brand. In this case, I bought a small and the fit was very snug. After wearing the jacket for a few days, I really appreciated the breathability that the jacket offers as I had no issues running around in the sweltering heat. Another reason why it is so comfortable to wear for long periods of time is its lightweight construction.
Protection, visibility and storage
The jacket is constructed from high-strength polyester and features Level 1 Warrior Lite removable shoulder protectors and Level 1 Forcetech removable elbow protectors. You can also add an optional back protector, sold separately. For added visibility, the jacket features 3M Scotchlite reflectors on the front, back and arms, making you more visible to other drivers when riding at night.
It would have been nice if the back protector had been offered as standard, as it is pricey at Rs 6,966. That said, Spidi is a premium brand, so its target audience might be willing to pay a bit more. Also, if you were planning to use a back protector from another jacket, that’s not possible, as the Tek Net jacket is only compatible with the Warrior series back protectors, which use a Velcro fastening.
The storage section has three exterior pockets and one interior pocket, giving you plenty of room for your daily essentials. Internationally, Spidi also offers a thermal and waterproof layer (sold separately). Currently, it is not available on the ReiseMoto website, but may be added in the near future.
verdict
I’ve used a number of entry level textile jackets in the past that, while functional, were not the best in terms of comfort. After my experience with the Tek Net, I highly recommend investing in a premium jacket like this one. It’s a great option for your daily commute in the city or even long drives on the highway. The breathability and comfort this jacket offers is unmatched, especially in hot climates.
It’s great to see ReiseMoto bring premium riding gear to the Indian market, but at Rs 18,699, the Tek Net is pricey for a textile jacket, and a back protector is a must for a riding jacket, bringing the total price to Rs 25,665. India is a price-sensitive market, but there are plenty of motorbike enthusiasts looking for premium gear, and this product will definitely appeal to them.
