The Boys Season 5 will officially bring the Superman-filled storyline to an end, but as actor Karl Urban revealed, it’ll continue for a while longer.
“Working with famous people [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] “That’s it for today. See you in 2 years (or hopefully sooner) for the final season,” Urban posted on Instagram about his scene with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Joe Kessler. [Prime Video]”
While the production window is subject to change, the final season of The Boys is apparently targeted for release in 2026.
This probably comes as no surprise to those who’ve been paying attention to creator Eric Kripke’s recent comments about filming the fifth season.
Kripke previously told Variety that filming on The Boys season 5 would begin in November and run through mid-2025. If that’s the case, 2026 is certainly realistic, given the lengthy time The Boys typically spends in post-production.
Given how The Boys season 4 ended, we can expect Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher to clash not only with Anthony Starr’s Homelander, but also with the rest of his former crew, including Hughie (Jack Quaid), Annie (Erin Moriarty), and Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso).
Good news for anyone wanting to dive back into The Boys-verse: Gen V Season 2 is set to premiere on Prime Video next year.
“It’s in production right now. We’ve been in production for a few weeks, maybe a month or two, and we’re hopeful we’ll be able to release it next year,” Vernon Sanders, head of Amazon-MGM television, told TheWrap.
