Urban Community Services Center Notifies 38,000 People of Recent Data Breach | Console and Associates, PC

On October 11, 2024, Urban Community Services Center (“CUCS”) filed a data breach notification with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights after learning that a fraudster had accessed its computer network for several days. did. In the notice, CUCS stated that this incident could result in an unauthorized third party gaining access to sensitive information such as a consumer’s name, address, social security number, telephone number, date of birth, benefit identification number, and health status. What caused the Center for Urban Community Services data breach?

Through this investigation, CUCS discovered that an unauthorized third party gained access to its IT network between September 4, 2023 and September 10, 2023 and obtained personal information from CUCS’ systems during this period. I found out what I did.

CUCS noted in the letter that the information pertains to individuals who received services through the New York State Department of Health and Human Hygiene and the New York State Department of Human Services.

On October 11, 2024, the Urban Community Services Center filed a notification with HHS-OCR. Typically, this is also the time when companies send individual data breach letters to those affected by the breach. However, the timeline for a CUCS data breach may vary. In either case, these letters should provide victims with a list of what information in their possession was compromised.
