Why was Cory Comperatore’s name spelled wrong on his album jacket?
Trump walked onto the stage at the Republican National Convention and stood next to Comperatore in his turnout gear, put his hands on his shoulders and even kissed his helmet, a strange move made even more awkward by the fact that the firefighter’s last name was missing an A before the T.
Social media erupted in an uproar, with everyone desperate to point out the mistake. People were quick to blame Trump and the RNC, but it turns out his name on his jacket was always spelled wrong. Twitter user Aaron Newborn shared a photo of Comperatore’s jacket hanging outside a fire station, writing, “Actually… that’s his real coat. His last name wouldn’t fit on the coat so they took the A out to make it fit.”
This was confirmed by KCRA-TV, who reported that it was definitely a Comperatore jacket. According to a Buffalo Township Fire Department Facebook post, this was a mistake made by the manufacturer “years ago” and Comperatore never attempted to fix it.
