To learn more about our work in this area, meet Kevin O’Neill, assistant director of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Disaster Recovery. If you are interested in affordable housing and community development, have an interest in equity, experience in community development/revitalization, and an awareness and interest in disaster recovery, this is the session for you.

Kevin earned his master’s degree in urban planning from UCLA in 1992 and spent nearly 15 years working at HUD, so this is a first-hand story from one of our alumni about working at this federal agency. It’s a valuable opportunity. He joined HUD in 2011 in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, managing Sandy Recovery grantees, and then moved to Disaster Recovery in 2016. Prior to that, he had 25 years of experience in the nonprofit community development sector, developing affordable and supportive housing. and community facilities.
