Fall is just around the corner, which means it’s time to fill up your fall fashion calendar and get ready to attend events, cocktail parties, and runway shows in style.
With fall fashion in full swing around the world from August through October, it’s not just about when and where to wear it, but also what to wear. Here’s your brief guide to fall fashion events, from Lagos to Los Angeles and beyond.

Copenhagen Fashion Week
If any fashion week is gaining momentum to rival the world’s top four mega-fashion weeks, it’s Copenhagen Fashion Week. Scandinavian cool brings a minimalist yet colorful edge to street style, and the photography is always great. This year’s event runs from August 5th to 9th, and will feature brands such as Forza Collective, OperaSport, Rolf Ekroth, A. Roege Hove, and Alectra Rothschild/Masculina. There will also be a presentation from J’amemme, whose new collection of feminine pieces featuring pleats and fringes is inspired by jellyfish.

Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo
Tokyo’s street style is pioneering, but when it comes to runway fashion, Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo is a must-see. It runs from August 28 to September 2 and features up-and-coming young designers. Organized by the Japan Fashion Week Organization, it takes place twice a year at venues such as Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills, as well as other locations across Tokyo. The schedule includes art exhibitions, lectures, networking events, runway shows, and more.

For those of you who don’t know, Amsterdam Fashion Week is in full swing in the Dutch capital, taking place from September 3rd to 6th. This year, brands like Martan, Tess van Zalinge, Wandler and Denzel Veerkamp will be present, as well as several art exhibitions and installations across the city.

Seoul Fashion Week
If there’s one city renowned as a hot fashion hub, it’s Seoul, South Korea. Taking place from September 3-7, Seoul Fashion Week will showcase the work of some of Korea’s top designers, including Maison Nika (known for its craftsmanship) and Greedylus (known for its maximalist style). Many of the brands are female-founded and female-led, and the runway shows here offer a glimpse into a burgeoning fashion hub with a penchant for architectural cuts and explosions of color.

New York Fashion Week
Just after Labor Day, fall events kick off, so get ready! New York Fashion Week runs from September 6-11, with several brands showcasing in the Big Apple. Returning designers include Carolina Herrera, Coach, Jason Wu, LaQuan Smith, and Luar, while newcomers include Advisry, Campillo, Michael Fausto, Salon 1884, and TWP. September 6 will see a flurry of off-calendar events, including Pieter Mulier’s Alaïa. Keep an eye out for runway shows, events, and parties across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Don’t miss Runway 7, featuring over 150 independent designers from 15 countries at Sony Hall. The event also includes the third annual Elysian’s Catwalk Furbaby, which raises funds for animal welfare charities such as Marley’s Mutts and Juniper & Friends. This charitable runway show features a panel of legendary New York designers including Nicole Miller, Canine Cashmere, Alex Foxworth, Jonathan Kanye, Christina Strayer and Brooke Wilder.

London Fashion Week
In the UK, London Fashion Week will take place from 12th to 17th September, and this year will be a special anniversary edition: the British Fashion Council recently announced a 40th anniversary celebration organised by 1664 Brand. New designers include Harris Reid, Patrick McDowell and Standing Ground, with returning names like Erdem, Richard Quinn, Simone Richa and Tove Gautier taking part.

Milan Fashion Week
Milan Fashion Week will run from September 17 to 23, with Fendi opening the week, followed by runway shows from Diesel, Jil Sander and Boss. Del Colle, No.21, Roberto Cavalli, Etro, Max Mara, Prada and Moschino, with Adrien Apiolaza as new creative director, will also be showing. Fiorucci will be showing its first runway show, which will be worth looking forward to. Meanwhile, Tom Ford will not be holding a runway show (the collection will be shown at a showroom in Milan) as creative director Peter Hawkings has left the company. Philipp Plein plans to open a restaurant and hotel in Milan this fall, likely during the fashion season. More information to come.

It’s nonstop in Paris this year, first the Olympics, then fashion week: Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear runs from September 23rd to October 1st, kicking off with Weinsanto’s show and closing with Louis Vuitton’s presentation on October 1st. Alessandro Michele and Valentino’s first collections will debut on September 29th, Ludovic de Saint-Sernin will return to Paris, and the first shows will be by Abra, Julie Kegels and Valiant.

Gran Canaria Swim Week
Gran Canaria Swim Week in Madrid, presented by Moda Cálida, will take place from October 2 to 6. It is the top swimwear runway show in all of Europe. It takes inspiration from the Spanish island of Gran Canaria and all that this tropical paradise has to offer. The swim week will feature over 40 Spanish swimwear brands, including Alexandra Miro, Gottex and Miss Bikini.

Shanghai Fashion Week
Shanghai is a fashion hub in its own right. Shanghai Fashion Week runs from 10th to 18th October and will feature trade fairs, sustainability-focused events and noteworthy up-and-coming Chinese fashion designers. The program has already been announced and is extensive, so be sure to check out the runway shows from brands such as Semir, Wynken and Tutu De Monde.

Los Angeles Fashion Week
LAFW was founded in 1953 by fashion designer Ellanor Lambert. It has been held multiple times over the decades, but has been in its best years since N4XT Experiences acquired LAFW in 2022. LAFW is now endorsed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Recent runway show highlights include Gypsy Sport and Luis de Javier. The next edition will take place from October 17-19, and you can expect more experiences, runway shows, and a West Coast vibe.
Dallas Apparel and Accessories Market
The Dallas Apparel & Accessories Market will take place at the Dallas Market Center from October 22-25 and will feature thousands of wholesale businesses specializing in women’s apparel, accessories, footwear, beauty and health products. Western, contemporary and modern style clothing, children’s and teen clothing and more will be on offer.
Kingpins Amsterdam
The world-renowned denim event will take place at Amsterdam’s Sugar Factory on October 23rd and 24th. Kingpins takes place five times a year in New York, Amsterdam and Hong Kong, and is expected to showcase the latest and greatest from the sustainability-focused denim community.

If there’s one city in Nigeria where fashion is booming, it’s Lagos. The next Lagos Fashion Week will take place from 23rd to 27th October. For a fresh look at fashion, check out the website for a roster of fashion designers, from Abiola Olusola to Banke Kuku to Rosa Maeombo. Programme highlights include Fashion Focus Africa, which unearths new talent and provides access to the Fashion Focus Fund, and the Fashion Business Series, which brings together leading figures in the fashion industry for networking and talks on the fashion industry.

In Chicago, Fashion Bar The Show is the Windy City’s answer to Fashion Week. The week-long event, which runs from October 15-28, will feature established and emerging Chicago designers, including Rosa Loredo and IAMTONYLONG. Fashion Bar CEO Tony Long will direct the show with creative director Pippine Taya. There will also be non-binary fashion, as well as luxury wear, streetwear and haute couture. “When you think of New York, Los Angeles and Miami, there is a set identity, but Chicago doesn’t have one,” says Long. “So the goal is to get Chicago recognized as a fashion destination with inclusivity, diversity and culture.”
