KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, Oct. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Art WeMe Contemporary Gallery is pleased to present “Break The Mold, Urban Rhythms,” a solo exhibition by renowned contemporary sculptor Huang Yulong. The exhibition, which will run from October 23 to October 30, 2024, will focus on Yulong’s dynamic sculptures that bridge traditional Chinese culture and contemporary street art aesthetics.

Exhibition details:

Theme: Yulong Huang Solo Exhibition “Break The Mold, Urban Rhythms”
Date: October 23rd to 30th, 2024
Location: Art WeMe Contemporary Gallery, Pavilion Elite, Level 2
Opening hours: Daily, 10am to 9pm

Huang Yulong, a renowned artist from Anhui Province, China, was recognized by Complex magazine as “one of the 25 contemporary Chinese artists we should know.” His work reflects a unique fusion of street culture and identity, fusing Eastern and Western influences to express the evolving spirit of modern China.

Growing up in the fast-paced 1980s, Yulong’s artistic journey has been shaped by the collision of traditional values and new cultural expressions. Inspired by hip-hop’s spirit of freedom and individuality, Yulong developed a unique artistic language, celebrating China’s vibrant transition towards global competitiveness and cultural self-confidence.

A highlight of the exhibition is Yuryu’s acclaimed series “Men in Faceless Parkas,” which embodies his reflections on freedom, individuality, and resilience. These striking sculptures symbolize cultural identity and self-confidence, capturing the spirit of hip-hop and city life.

“‘Faceless Hoodies’ reflects my view of individual existence: bold, free, and fearless,” says Yuron. “We hope viewers will connect with the essence behind the parkas and bring their own thoughts and feelings to these figures, breathing new life and meaning into each sculpture.”

Visit Art Wee Me Contemporary Gallery to explore this thought-provoking exhibition that challenges perceptions and encourages dialogue about identity, culture, and artistic expression.
