Let’s not mince words: getting the cover of Vogue is a big deal, but getting two covers of the esteemed fashion bibles *at the same time*? That’s pretty much unheard of. Unless you’re Zendaya, of course.
The actress will be on the May covers of both American and British Vogue, a move that’s obviously strategically timed, as May is the month of the Met Ball and Zendaya will be co-hosting this year’s event. The theme is “The Garden of Time.” And we’re not just talking about one photoshoot shared by both magazines: Zendaya stars in two separate stories, photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the American edition and Carlene Jacobs for the British.
Styled by longtime collaborator Law Roach for both shoots, the dress has so many styles, but our favorite is hands down the flashy, dramatic, romantic aesthetic of the Vogue photo, contrasting with the sport-luxe, androgynous vibe of the British Vogue looks. And nowhere is this more apparent than in its bridal fit.
Being Zendaya, she was never going to wear a standard wedding dress. Instead, she put a high-fashion naked twist on the traditional bridal look, wearing a topless dress that featured a high-rise satin, form-fitting skirt and a see-through bib overlay adorned with white 3D flowers.
The same floral sheer fabric was used to create a voluminous, flowing veil, structured to give the illusion of flowers blowing freely around Zendaya, while an oversized diamond corsage around her wrist and a statement diamond choker necklace completed the look.
The floral theme continues from the magazine’s cover, where Zendaya takes the corsage trend literally yet spectacularly by wearing an oversized red rose as her dress while reclining amongst a hedge. We’re obsessed, as are her fans, who take to the comments section to write, “Wow stellar girl 💅🏻💅🏻❤️❤️.”
