Columbus Blue Jackets coach Dean Evason and GM Don Waddell discuss their philosophies
Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell introduced new head coach Dean Evason during a press conference at Nationwide Arena.
Blue Jackets season ticket holders will soon have a chance to secure tickets to the first outdoor game in the franchise’s history.
Advance tickets for the Jackets’ game against the Detroit Red Wings, part of the NHL’s annual Stadium Series event at Ohio Stadium on March 1, will go on sale Tuesday to full season-ticket holders. Fans who only plan to attend a limited number of games will be able to access the advance sale starting Aug. 6, with tickets then going on sale to the general public “later this year,” according to a Blue Jackets announcement.
The team said it has received “more than 122,000 ticket applications” since the matchup was announced in February. Pre-sales ended at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 11, and the only way to secure tickets at this time is to purchase a full or partial ticket plan for the 2024-25 season.

Wednesday’s pre-ticket announcement comes during a busy offseason for the Blue Jackets, who hired Don Waddell as president of hockey operations and general manager in late May and hired Dean Evason on Tuesday as the 11th head coach in franchise history.
