While I love tinted lip balms and oils, I miss a bolder, more pigmented lip that I don’t need to reapply too often. Lack of color makes my lips look dull and unflattering. I’m the kind of person who has to stop taking selfies to apply lip product before taking a photo, and I always carry at least three different lip products in my bag. I appreciate the moisturizing benefits of lip balms, but I also need the long-lasting color of a lip stain. Luckily, one of my favorite brands, Kulfi Beauty, has launched a tinted lip oil that promises to do both.
Kulfi Beauty’s Lassi Lips Staining Lip Oil ($24) leaves lips looking glossy and hydrated. The formula dries to leave a perfectly pigmented, long-lasting stain. I’m already a big fan of the brand’s Heirloom Satin Lipsticks, which come in nude and pink shades to suit every skin tone and undertone, so I was excited to see how this stain would look on my tanned skin.
Read on for our full review of Kulfi Beauty Lassi Lips Staining Lip Oil, including samples of all the shades, to see if this lip oil is actually long-lasting.
Urban Decay’s sweat-resistant Face Bond Foundation is my summer essential.

What I like about Kulfi Lassi Lip Stain Lip Oil

I was really impressed with Lassi Lips’ appealing range of shades because every shade suited me. I think this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I was attracted to an entire line of lip colors without having to layer on other products. From neutral or natural shades to bold and bright hues, this line has everything you need for a colorful lip. If you have tanned or dark skin like me, the caramel and rose tones may not be visible immediately after application, but after a few seconds the color comes through and gives you that “my lips are better” look.

The staying power of this product is also impressive, especially when eating or having drinks. At a weekend brunch, I could see the color had faded in 4 hours, but the natural stain was still there. Even after my evening routine and double cleansing, my lips stayed put all day. The darker, bolder shades will give you a more impactful stain compared to the lighter shades.

The formula’s texture is light and non-greasy, perfect for summer. It goes on with a slightly watery feel, but the oily slip leaves lips feeling hydrated without feeling heavy. The formula stays put even after eating, drinking, swimming in the heat, or sweating. It doesn’t feather or flake like other lip stains, and unlike most lip products, it doesn’t transfer much, as you can see in the photo above.
How to use Kulfi Lassi Lip Stain Lip Oil
PS Photography | Anvita Reddy
Lassy Lips Stain Lip Oil can be applied to your lips just like any other lip product by gliding it onto them with the doe-foot applicator. The applicator is thin and tapered, allowing you to apply it around the perimeter of your lips to create a cupid’s bow for a smudge-free, precise application. The formula can be built up depending on the saturation and sheen level of pigmentation you desire. For a bold, glossy, shiny look on your lips, you can build up some. For a more natural look, apply one to two layers of the formula.
Things to consider before trying Kulfi Lassi Lip Stain Lip Oil
Lassy Lip Stain Lip Oil is my go-to lip product for almost all makeup looks. I apply it to my lips and then layer a second product on top to ensure the stain stays as a consistent base all day. Lassy Lip Oil is instantly hydrating, but the moisturizing effect is not as long-lasting as the pigment. To maintain the shine and hydration, you can supplement the stain with a regular lip balm if you don’t want to add the pigment. My current go-to lip combination is layering Dr. Dennis Gross DermInfusions Plump + Repair Lip Treatment over Lassy Lip Stain Lip Oil. This leaves lips plump, deeply moisturized, and with long-lasting pigment.
