Erykah Badu made a grand appearance on the red carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Monday. The four-time Grammy Award winner and style icon put her own spin on the suit by accessorizing with a dazzling headpiece.
For the special occasion, Badu wore an oversized suit designed by designer Thom Browne, with whom he has a long-time relationship. Oversized black and white textured pieces were juxtaposed with ornate headpieces.

The headpiece featured a black scarf that wrapped around Badu’s face and a strand of jewelry in shades of blue, green, and red, contrasting with silver chains.
Under Badu’s chin was a statement necklace with flowing silver links and a bold green gemstone. The jewelery was completed with a dazzling septum accessory.

“This honor is amazing and I don’t take it for granted. I always take pieces of what I’m drawn to and create something that is much grander than the sum of its parts. I loved creating,” Badu said of the Fashion Icon Award honor. “From the music I make, to the fashion I wear, to the technology I’m developing, I’m always looking for innovative and exciting ways to be more expressive, connect with people, and get closer to nature. I’m looking for.”
