Adrian Apiolaza was chosen as Moschino’s creative director in early 2024, following the untimely passing of former creative director Davide Renne last November. Early in his career, he worked as a junior designer for Alexander McQueen and Miguel Adrover. In 2006, he moved to Miu Miu and four years later joined Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton as a senior designer. He returned to ChloĆ© as design director alongside Keller in 2012, before moving to Loewe in 2014.

Gap Inc. has named Zac Posen as its next creative director. The American designer is tasked with reinvigorating the company’s entire portfolio. In this role, he is in fact responsible for all of the group’s brands: Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta, Old Navy,

Alessandro Michele was appointed creative director of Valentino in March. He replaces Pierpaolo Piccioli, who a few days ago left the brand after 25 years. Michele held the same role at Gucci for seven years starting in 2015, joining Gucci’s design studio in 2002 after working as a senior accessories designer at Fendi. In 2011, he was appointed an “associate” to then-creative director Frida Giannini, and in 2014 he also served as creative director of Richard Ginori, the porcelain brand acquired by Gucci in 2013.

After a five-year hiatus, Calvin Klein has hired Veronica Leoni as its new creative director. Leoni, a 2023 LVMH Prize finalist and founder of Quira, has worked for brands such as Jil Sander, Celine, Monckle, and most recently designed womenswear and menswear for The Row in addition to Quira. I served as a director.

Lanvin appointed Peter Copping as its new artistic director in June. Former creative director Bruno Sialelli parted ways with the French house in April 2023. Mr. Copping has headed the couture ateliers of Oscar de la Renta, Nina Ricci and Balenciaga.

David Koma has been selected as Blumarine’s creative director. Before Koma, the brand was designed by Walter Chiapponi, who left after just one collection. Koma launched her London-based fashion house in 2009 after completing her studies at Central Saint Martins University. In April, he launched a swimwear brand called Let’s Swim with his new partner and one of his childhood friends.
Francis Howie has been appointed creative director at Fforme, replacing Dutch creative director Paul Herbers, who has parted ways with the brand. Howie was Stella McCartney’s design director until his retirement in August 2021.

Designer Haider Ackermann was appointed Tom Ford’s creative director in September, less than a year after founder Peter Hawkings stepped down. In recent years, Ackermann designed couture collections for Jean Paul Gaultier and served as Berluti’s creative director for three seasons from 2016 to 2018. Also in May, the designer was named creative director of Canada Goose.
Sarah Burton has been appointed as Givenchy’s new creative director since September. Burton replaces Matthew M. Williams, who left the brand at the end of 2023 after three years. She became Givenchy’s eighth designer and second female couturier, after spending her entire fashion career at Alexander McQueen in London.

Following the retirement of Hedi Slimane announced on the same day, Michael Ryder has been appointed as Celine’s creative director. Ryder previously served as creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren since 2018, and before that worked under creative director Phoebe Philo at Celine from 2008 to 2018.
The Missoni brand has chosen Alberto Carilli as creative director after parting ways with Filippo Grazioli, who joined Missoni in 2022. Carilli first joined Missoni in 1998 and was appointed interim Creative Director in May 2021, succeeding Angela Missoni. A year later, he introduced the brand’s home collection, leading a new phase for the division overseen by co-founder Rosita Missoni.
Aeffe Group this month promoted Lorenzo Serafini to creative director of the Alberta Ferretti brand. Serafini joined the group in 2014 and was appointed by Ferretti to lead the design of the Philosophy label, which will be integrated into the Alberta Ferretti line from the fall 2025 season.
John Skelton is EBIT’s new Culture and Creative Director from October. Mr Skelton’s appointment marks his return to the fashion industry after a seven-year hiatus during which he was recovering from mental health and substance abuse issues.

Joseph has appointed Mario Arena, formerly of JW Anderson, as creative director. His first collection is scheduled to be presented in spring 2026. Arena takes over from husband-and-wife duo Anna Lundbach-Dyer and Frederic Dyer, who have been co-creative directors since 2020.

Dries Van Noten, the fashion house owned by Puig, has announced the appointment of Julian Klausner. For the past six years, Klausner has been designing women’s wear alongside the Belgian founder, who stepped down from his eponymous label in June. According to his LinkedIn profile, Klausner, who graduated in 2016 from Brussels’ renowned visual arts and fashion school La Cambre, interned at Thom Browne, Kenzo and Maison Margiela before becoming a junior designer at Maison Margiela in 2016. Bottega Veneta has selected Louise Trotter to succeed Mathieu Blazy at the brand’s creative helm. Trotter is Calven’s creative director and presented the brand’s first collection during Paris Fashion Week last September. Trotter previously held top roles at Joseph in 2009 and 2018, followed by four years in top roles at Lacoste.
Chanel appointed Matthew Blasey as its new creative director after Virginie Viard stepped down after five years in the role in June. Since 2021, he has been the creative director of Bottega Veneta, but he also worked at Calvin Klein as part of the team Simmons brought to New York, where he worked on men’s and women’s collections as design director.
