The actress is currently in the press in preparation for the release of her new film Die My Love in November, and was in London for the BFI Film Festival, which closed on Sunday. She attended an event on Friday and was then spotted out to dinner wearing the skirt trend that will carry over into fall 2025 and remain dominant until next year. What is it? But what made Lawrence’s velvet skirt especially chic was the version she and stylist Jamie Mizrahi chose for the occasion. Specifically, she wore a golden yellow velvet column skirt. That means it’s a straight fit, almost to the floor, with a subtly sexy slit in the back. The skirt and the turtleneck-style black top she wore with it (complete with a sneaky cutout in the back) are from one of New York’s hottest labels, Colleen Allen. Both pieces are from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, and while her top is completely sold out, her skirt is still available in one size on both Allen’s website and Moda Operandi. As for footwear, Lawrence made the controversial choice of taupe kitten heels with a sleek ankle strap. Simple kitten heels are perfect for skirts like this and can highlight bold items, but color choices traditionally fall into the “clash” category. Luckily, according to the Spring/Summer 2026 runways, Lawrence was actually the perfect choice, as unexpected color combinations are now available. She finished the look with another velvet item, this time a burgundy drawstring bag.
