Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is truly one of the best shopping events of the year for beauty lovers. It runs through August 5 this year and always features the best exclusive bundles and discounts on products that aren’t usually (or are rarely) discounted. With nearly 1,000 sale items and nearly 300 exclusive items, I combed through them all (and I don’t mean that dramatically) and ultimately picked up just five essentials.

With so many mascaras out there, I can’t go through each one too often – except for YSL’s Lash Crush Mascara, which can be layered six times for spidery lashes or applied lightly two times for a more natural, flattering effect.
And beyond my humble praise, this mascara has thousands of five-star reviews and is a testament to its immense popularity, as evidenced by the fact that it inspired two couples to try it. When you buy it, you’ll save $10 per bottle, which is handy because once you try Lash Clash Mascara, you’ll eventually need another bottle.

My eternal pet peeve is that I have expensive tastes, and my nose just won’t give me the slight benefit of loving an $18 candle when there are candles that are closer to $50, so I’m always on the lookout for Boy Smells sales, which don’t happen very often.
