If you’re a regular reader of Cosmo’s fashion section (hello!), you know that over the past week we’ve been gushing about the amazing looks that were shown off on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Eva Longoria, and of course, we can’t talk about the French Riviera without mentioning the undisputed queen of Cannes, Bella Hadid.
But that model title may be under serious threat as Demi Moore continues to steal fashion’s attention with some seriously standout looks. The actress has been a regular at 2024 events and has been garnering critical acclaim while promoting her new film, The Substance. But if you ask us, it’s her fashion performances that should have us talking.
Demi’s Cannes outfits were all drool-worthy, so let’s take a look at each of their incredible fits.
Demi kicked off the look in a red sequined strapless column gown by Armani Privé, with beaded floral motifs adding extra embellishment detail. She coordinated her jewelry with the dress, accessorizing with a red gemstone Chopard cocktail ring and delicate floral drop earrings.
For Demi’s second red carpet look, she opted for a strapless sequined gown, a turquoise Balenciaga dress with a small train. She again matched her jewelry to the dress, this time wearing a turquoise and diamond collar necklace by Chopard.
Proving she can still pull off a chic daytime look with the tried and true fashion formula of a strapless dress, Demi donned a black Delcor maxi dress that featured a corsage belt and, most importantly, pockets. Though it may seem simple at first glance, the design also featured a see-through corset back, and Demi upped the style factor with a pair of By Fur ballet flats, also known as the shoe of the season for spring and summer. Demi also added the most adorable accessory: Pilaf the tiny Chihuahua.
Night after night, Demi donned a strapless gown. For the premiere of “The Substance,” she dazzled in a nude satin Schiaparelli Haute Couture creation that featured a fishtail silhouette and a 3D sculptural winged bow bodice. Chopard diamond choker and drop earrings added a subtle sparkle to the gorgeous look.
When in the South of France, it’d be a sin not to wear a ladylike ensemble in a strictly monochrome color palette. Just ask Selena Gomez, who worked with stylist Brad Goreski and showed up to the press conference in a cream tweed polka-dot A-line dress by Elie Saab paired with black and white pumps by Aquazzura. Thanks again to Pilaf, he (rightfully) stole the show.
Marking a return to strapless dresses, Demi wore a sunny yellow Oscar de la Renta gown with a thigh-high slit. Her sequined floral drop earrings, from Chopard, an official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival, added a fun and quirky element to her outfit and coordinated perfectly with the two oversized pink flowers that adorned her hips.
I changed the outfits a bit to recognise the two queens – three if you include Pilaf.
So, here is the latest update. [Thursday 23 May] Demi Moore hosted the annual AmfAR Gala and hit the red carpet in a custom white Loewe gown with a draped cowl neck and embellished tubular straps at the back. A Chopard diamond necklace with a giant diamond pendant topped off the ethereal outfit.
Of course, host Demi had an outfit change during the event, as she took to the gala stage in a silver sequined halter dress that featured a plunging neckline and nude crystal-embellished panels that created the effect of a cutout on the front of the dress.
Look after look! We told you Demi never fails when it comes to fashion. Is it time to get ready for the coronation?
